Time

Tassels
Original oil painting 28x22"
by Susan Roux

Where does the time go? I feel as though it's whizzing by!

I think I'm trying to do too much. I'm running on exhaustion lately and still have plenty of things I'd like to get to. Energy. Lack of energy and a tired body slow me down. I heard this could (would) happen with age... Don't you just hate it when they're right?

Thoughts usually ricochet in my head like the silver ball in a pinball machine. Creative thoughts, imaginative thoughts, even organizational thoughts. So many thoughts and ideas, it's often hard to sleep because they don't turn off. Today I sit before you with a blank mind. It seems so strange. I know it's because it wants to shut down and sleep, but not today. There is still too much to do.

Here is my latest girl. Charlie at The Wright Gallery sold Sundress after having her for a week. This is for him. I'll be delivering it early next week, hopefully. It's like my husband says. Charlie can't sell them if I don't paint them.

Words of wisdom.

  2. Susan, Congratulations on the painting sale!! And this painting is lovely too. Some words in great love for you, my friend, from a seasoned sage returning slowly now from a period of agonizing grief.

Did you know that your mind is not your soul? It is part of your body and will eventually die. Take as much time as you need to listen to your Inner Voice (your spirit, deep down inside) and it will tell you exactly what to do each moment. Be free to use your mind as your Soul dictates and to your advantage. Don't let your mind run you. It will keep you in one drama after another with no peace or contentment.

  5. If you paint them, they will sell? LOL Charlie is right!

You know I'm with you on the exhaustion and an aging body. Sigh...Why? Why? Why, I ask you! But oh to paint like you do, Susan! Your girls are beautiful and I'm beginning to picture someone pining away for this beautiful woman somewhere. She always is lost in her thoughts, I think...

Too, I have a hard time shutting down the mind as well. And sometimes the resulting dreams are so odd! LOL

  14. I already posted a comment on this work, but it has disappeared, maybe blogger problems, but I like this summer painting a lot, seems like the girl is going into the big nowhere.
